OPENING OF SPRINGBANK RISE DOG PARK

On a very cold 24th of July some brave members of the ACT German Shepherd Dog Club ventured forth to Springbank Rise Casey, in Gungahlin, to help with the opening festivities for the new dog park.  Trust me, it really was cold!

The function was sponsored by Elite Events and supported by the ACT Canine Association (better know as Dogs ACT).  Breakfast was provided, and appreciated by all.

An obedience demonstration was presented by members of our Novice and Graduate classes, with a ‘pas de deux’ from John Gryneiwicz and Keira.  Everyone was most impressed with Keira’s performance, which only goes to show what can be achieved with training and perseverance.

The obedience demonstration was followed up by some of our puppies showing their exuberance on the puppy equipment, which include the see-saw, weaving poles, tyre and tunnel.  Quite a few of the onlookers joined in and before too long there were all shapes and sizes going around and having a ball on the equipment.

After the hard work many of the dogs had a run in the park with their new found friends, while their mums and dads had a well earned breakfast.

Despite the cold, all dogs and handlers had a good time, and we even left some of the on-lookers in awe of our dogs potential and personalities.  Maybe even some converts!
